Comment Several studies have linked bile acids to NASH via FXR. FXR-deficient mice displayed marked inflammatory cell infiltration and increased hepatic collagen content, whereas FXR activation decreased inflammatory cell infiltration and fibrosis in mice by repression of the fibrotic genes TGF-1beta, alpha-SMA, and TIMP-1.
