Comment Human ACE hydrolyzed substance P in vitro and released the protected C-terminal tripeptide (Gly-Leu-Met-NH2) and the C-terminal dipeptide at a 4:1 ratio. The hydrolysis was chloride dependent, and inhibited by captopril. When tested in vivo, the ACE inhibitor captopril potentiated the effect of substance P on salivation in the rat.
