This is a server for the classification of ESTs from mixed EST pools (from fungus infected plants), i.e for determination of the EST's origin. It is based on the machine learning algorithm Support Vector Machines and uses codon frequencies for discrimination between plant and fungal origin. See reference page for full reference to the article containing detailed description of the server, information about used methods and contact information.

There are two possibilities for using this server: You can either submit sequences for classification. At the moment a pre-built classifier (SVM model) only exists for the pair Blumeria/Barley, so you should use this option only for sequences of this origin. For sequences from pairs of organisms with similar codon frequencies to the pair Barley/Blumeria this method might also work, but in general for other sequences the quality of the result may be doubtful. Alternatively you have the possibility to train a new classifier (i.e. build a SVM model) for sequences from arbitrary plant/pathogen pairs which can afterwards be used for classification. For this option you need to submit classified sequences.

If you want to submit unclassified ESTs for classification please select
