Query any indexed column

Your Query:

  • All queries are case-insensitive! Take care of the search space. For most queries it is reasonable to add '1[ENI]' to restrict the search space to the valid entries.

How to query MNCDB using this tool?
A NCU02657 'NCU02657' is found in one of the default columns
B NCU02657[ENN] 'NCU02657' is found in the indexed column ENN (Entry)
C NCU026*[ENN]
All results starting with 'NCU026' in the column indexed ENN (Entry) are found
D <50[PIL] All results having a value less than 50 in the column indexed PIL (Protein Length) are found
E "*pyruvate kinase*"[END] All results containing 'pyruvate kinase' in the indexed column END (Description) are found
F NOT 1 [ENI] AND NCU026*[ENN] Results found in the indexed column ENI (Valid tag) having a value other than 1 (invalid entries) AND where entry starts with 'NCU026'. Equal to "!1[ENI] NCU026*"
G NCU026* 01.01*[FCC]

Results found in one of the default columns starting with 'NCU026' AND in the column indexed FCC having the value '01.01*'. Equal to NCU026* AND 01.01*[FCC], NCU026* +01.01*[FCC] and NCU026* &01.01*[FCC]

H NCU026* OR 01.01[FCC] Results found in one of the default columns starting with 'NCU026' OR in the indexed column FCC having the value '01.01'
I NCU02* &!"pyruvate kin*"[END] | <50[PIL] Equal to NCU02* AND NOT "pyruvate kin*"[END] OR <50[PIL]
J NCU02* NULL[FCC] All entries were 'NCU02*' is found in one of the default columns and do not have a functional classification

  • The most simple expression is only a single query term which will query the default columns Entry [ENN], Gene [GEN] and Description[END]. (A)
  • To narrow the search to a specific column add the column index in square brackets ([ ]) behind the query term. (B)
  • It is possible to use wildcards anywhere in the term. Use * as the wildcard character. (C)
  • For numeric values it is possible to use the relational operators < and > (D). If the term behind the operator is not an integer the term will be used as is (including the bracket).
  • To query for complete terms including spaces or special characters (- ! & |), the term has to be placed inside of double quotes. Otherwise the database will be queried for the separate terms individually (E)
  • To use the NOT operator, simply put NOT with a blanc space or ! without blanc space in front of the search term. (F)
  • To combine queries, it is possible to use the conditional operators AND and OR. If there is only one blank space between two terms, AND will be used by default. (G,H) Instead of AND and OR, &,+ and | can be used respectively.
  • Any combinations of the terms above can be used (I)
