Functional Classification of Proteins

Proteins are functionally classified using the MIPS FunCat. For a first analysis the assignment is done by the PEDANT system using homology to already manually annotated proteins. Only entries with a quality value ((identities * length) / hit length) >= 25 % are transfered in the GenRE database (Wilson CA et al. (2000)).

Search for Functional Distribution of Gene Lists

In case you are interested in the functional distribution of a gene set, e.g. a set of genes with up-or down-regulated expression you can retrieve the distribution using our FunCatDB. Simply go there, select 'Neurospora crassa' and paste your gene list. The result will be presented in html as well as a tab delimited table for download.
