Specific Search

The specific search offers the option to search with specific data types for protein complexes. Queries can be combined with the logical operators ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘not’.

Complex name

The search term does not ne ed to contain the complete protein complex name. It is also possible to search with partial complex names (e.g. ubiquitin) to obtain groups of related complexes.

Complex ID

Searches for the complex ID which is provided by CORUM.

Gene name

Covers gene names (e.g. Snap25) and gene name synonyms provided by UniProt (http://www.ebi.uniprot.org/index.shtml). Parts of gene names are also allowed.

Protein name

Covers protein names (e.g. Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein F) and protein name synonyms provided by UniProt. Parts of protein names are also allowed.

Method

Search for the methods that were used for the isolation of the protein complex. The search requires the PSI-MI identifier, e.g. MI:0019 for coimmunoprecipitation, or the name of the method. Information about PSI-MI identifiers is available at http://www.ebi.ac.uk/ontology-lookup/browse.do?ontName=MI or http://www.ebi.ac.uk/ontology-lookup/ .

FunCat

Protein complexes with a specific function can be queried with the FunCat identifier (e.g. 01.05) or with the FunCat description (e.g. metabolism) or part of the FunCat description. More information about FunCat annotation is available at http://mips.gsf.de/proj/funcatDB/search_main_frame_update.html.

PMID

This search requires the exact number of the PubMed identifier (e.g. 12628926).

UniProt acc

As input the UniProt accession (e.g. P07901) is required.

MfunGD

In CORUM, for annotated protein complex subunits the orthologous proteins from mouse are presented. To search for a respective MfunGD entry one has to enter the MfunGD identifier (e.g. mc13001539).

Comment

Comments provide additional information about the protein complex like disease relevance or cellular function. For queries a single term or part of a term is required.

Organism

Here, one can query for the organism from which the complex has been isolated. If an organism is not available in our list (e.g. mink in complex 321) or the source is not clearly determined, the organism is annotated as ‘not specified’.
