Under fed conditions, FoxO1 is phosphorylated and translocated to the cytoplasm, resulting in inhibition of gluconeogenesis in the liver. These two reciprocal mechanisms play a critical role in maintaining blood glucose levels within a narrow physiological range in different metabolic states.
