Reference: Konings AF et al.(2013) Pseudomonas aeruginosa uses multiple pathways to acquire iron during chronic infection in cystic fibrosis lungs Infect. Immun. 81: 2697-2704 [PMID: 23690396]

Interaction Information:

Comment The authors analysed the sputum of CF (cystic fibrosis) patients by RT-qPCR. The expression of pchF (involved in the biosynthesis of pyochelin) was detected in most samples, and pyochelin was detected in some samples, suggesting that pyochelin-mediated iron uptake plays a role in some, but perhaps not all, infections.
