Comment The delta-pvdE strain exhibited greatly diminished virulence in silkworms compared to wild-type strain. The decreased virulence of the delta-pvdE strain was greatly restored in the delta-pvdE/pvdE strain but not in the delta-pvdE/exoS strain, suggesting that complementation of only the exoS gene in delta-pvdE is insufficient for recovery of pvdE gene-mediated virulence of the wild-type strain in silkworms on midgut injection.
