Diseases: Pseudomonas aeruginosa diseases
pathogen-host system
Pseudomonas aeruginosa/mammalia
MDCK or Caco-2 cells, infected with P. aeruginosa strain PAO1
Reference: Okuda J et al.(2010) Translocation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from the intestinal tract is mediated by the binding of ExoS to an Na,K-ATPase regulator, FXYD3 Infect. Immun. 78: 4511-4522 [PMID: 20805335]

Interaction Information:

Comment ExoS inactivates Na,K-ATPase activity through interactions with FXYD3. Membranes isolated from control Caco-2 cells exhibited Na,K-ATPase activity, whereas membranes isolated from FXYD3 knockdown cells did not. Exposure of control membranes to recombinant ExoS did not show Na,K-ATPase activity.
