BTO:0002734 16-HBE14o cell, infected with P. aeruginosa strain PA3
Cuzick A et al.(2006) The type III pseudomonal exotoxin U activates the c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase pathway and increases human epithelial interleukin-8 production. Infect. Immun. 74: 4104-4113
ExoU is the factor responsible for the production of IL-8 in respiratory epithelial cells following infection with P. aeruginosa. The increase in IL-8 produced by ExoU is dependent on the catalytic lipase activity of the protein.
