Diseases: Pseudomonas aeruginosa diseases
pathogen-host system
Pseudomonas aeruginosa/mammalia
Recovered bronchoalveolar lavage fluids (BALF) of mice infected with P. aeruginosa strain PA103 (ExoU-producing)
Reference: Machado GB et al.(2011) Pseudomonas aeruginosa toxin ExoU induces a PAF-dependent impairment of alveolar fibrin turnover secondary to enhanced activation of coagulation and increased expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in the course of mice pneumosepsis. Respir. Res. 12: 104 [PMID: 21819560]

Interaction Information:

Comment ExoU-induced PAI-1 overexpression was likely dependent on the PAF signaling system. Mice treatment with the PAF antagonist WEB-2086 reduced significantly the concentrations of PAI-1 and of inflammatory cells, as well as the procoagulant activity detected in BALF from mice infected with the ExoU-producing PA103 bacteria.
