Comment The type III and type VI secretion systems are controlled by c-di-GMP. An artificial increase in c-di-GMP levels, upon overproduction of an active diguanylate cyclase, controls the T3SS and the T6SS in an inverse manner. This T3SS/T6SS switch is similar to what was previously observed in a strain with a retS mutation. This increase was concomitant with a reduction in PcrV production (T3SS) and an increase in Hcp1 production (T6SS).
