Interaction Information:

Comment cAMP signals are strictly compartmentalized. cAMP emanating from soluble ACs (adenylyl cyclase) activates barrier-disrupting targets, such as tau. P. aeruginosa secretes the cytosolic exotoxin, ExoY, a adenylyl cyclase, into PMVECs (pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells). ExoY utilizes a eukaryotic factor to stimulate AC activity, generating cAMP in the cytosolic compartment sufficient to induce endothelial cell gaps. ExoY increased phosphorylation of tau at Ser 214.
